CURRENT PRIORITIES

Priority 1:
Increase Police Visibility during the evenings around the centre of Walmer Bridge village and around Gill Lane to tackle anti-social behaviour. Evenings & Weekends
 
Priority 2:
Increase police visibility around Dob Lane play area, Walmer Bridge due to anti-social behaviour. Evenings & Weekends
 
Priority 3:
Increase police visibility at Longton Health Centre & Longton Library due to anti-social behaviour and criminal damage. Evenings & Weekends

Priority 1:

You said:
Speeding issues in the Western Parishes. Main area Liverpool Road, Walmer Bridge.

We did: Speed enforcement officers have targeted established locations in Liverpool Road in Hutton and Longton and Lindle Lane.
We have asked for the 40mph area of Liverpool Road. Walmer Bridge to be risk assessed for speed enforcement in addition to the established locations. Operation pathway has taken place within the Western Parishes. Motorists committing road traffic offences are stopped at specific locations and prosecuted.

As a result: We have received no further reports from the public with regards to speeding vehicles.

Priority 2:

You said: High visibility patrol during evenings and weekends at Dob Lane Play Area, Walmer Bridge and the Village centre regarding anti social behaviour and criminal damage.

We did: We have regularly visited the play area and targeted groups of older youths who were not using the facilities and intimidating younger youths. We have issued direction to leave orders to several youths engaged in anti-social behaviour. We have liased with the Council parks department. The Council has agreed to place signs on the play area restricting the age limit of youths using the facilities and the times when the play area can be used.

A local police operation has been conducted using mounted and support unit officers to target youths responsible for anti-social behaviour. Local officers are patrolling this area on a regular basis.
Direction to leave orders have been issued to several youths preventing them from entering the village for given time periods.
The neighbourhood policing team has engaged with local youths requesting that they do not congregate in such large numbers which can be intimidating to local residents. Youths found in possession of alcohol or involved in anti social behaviour have been returned home and parents informed about their behaviour. Youth referrals have been completed to record and monitor their behaviour.

A letter has been drafted and delivered to parents of youths who have been identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour. The letter warns that the police will no tolerate anti-social behaviour and will prosecute any offenders.
Local shop keepers and residents have been asked to contact police should large groups of youths congregate in the village. All affected parties and other local residents have been visited and reassurance given.

As a result:
There have been no further complaints regarding the behaviour of youths using the play area. However residents remain concerned about the increased numbers of youths in the surrounding area due to the new play area.

Priority 3:

You said: Parking issues within the Western Parishes.

We did: We have increased police presence outside schools at the start and end of the school day. Parents have been advised with regards to parking on footpaths and inconsiderate parking outside schools.
Additional police no waiting cones have been provided to certain schools as a temporary measure to prevent obstructions.
The police traffic management facilitator has been requested to liaise with the council regarding the introduction of parking restrictions, signs and markings at various sites within Western Parishes.
Advice has been given to local shop keepers regarding concerns about illegal parking by customers.

As a result: No further complaints have been received regarding parking issues or vehicle obstructions except for a vehicle in Hutton which was found on the road with no tax and no insurance and was seized under S.165 Road Traffic Act.

As a result:
The number of reports of anti-social behavior during the past month has decreased.
However a total of 8 offences of damage were reported in Walmer Bridge during the early hours of Saturday, 02/04/11. A group of youths caused damage to fence panels and car wing mirrors. These offences are still being investigated.
Residents have confirmed that the older youths who were responsible for the damage and anti-social behaviour in the village are no longer congregating and intimidating residents.
Priority 2:
You said: There is a problem with anti-social behaviour and damage on the play area in Dob Lane, Walmer Bridge.
We did:
We have regularly visited the play area and targeted groups of older youths who were not using the facilities and intimidating younger youths.
We have issued direction to leave orders to several youths engaged in anti-social behaviour.

Priority 3:
You said: There are concerns regarding illegal parking and obstructions in Marsh Lane, Longton during building works.
We did:
We liased with management of a local transport contractor being used for deliveries to the building site. We have requested that where possible only one delivery vehicle enters Marsh Lane at any one time.
Photographs of works vehicles causing obstructions provided by local residents were shown to the site manager and the transport contractor. They are aware that drivers of vehicles causing obstructions will be prosecuted.
We liased with the building site manager and instructed that site staff should refrain from parking their vehicles within 15 metres of the junction of Marsh Lane and The Maltings.
We have spoken with affected residents regarding their concerns and given reassurance.
As a result:
No further complaints have been received regarding parking issues or vehicle obstructions.
